Le Mary Céleste : Parisian hot spot
During a recent trip to Paris, friends made plans for us at Le Mary Céleste, a name that’s on every trendy Parisian’s lips these days.
At first glance, Le Mary Céleste looks like any other Marais bistro. But once inside, I quickly understood that this cocktail bar-cum-restaurant has a truly unique identity. From 5:30 onwards, this place is already bursting at the seams.
There is a happy hustle and bustle around the main bar, where everyone wants to make the most of Oyster Happy Hour, during which Belon, Marennes-Oléron, and Blackwater flat oysters are offered for €1. The ambiance is ultra friendly, and the undeniably charming bartenders prepare clever house-made cocktails with original names. One of my favourites was the Marquee Moon, made with absinthe and vermouth.
And if you’re a fan of beer, you’ll be pleased to know the restaurant also serves Brooklyn Lager on tap.
If seafood’s not your thing, the kitchen team also offers tapas-type plates to share that will certainly seduce your taste buds. And since the menu changes every day, it’s impossible to tire of it! Everything is fresh and carefully thought-out, yet humble.
This is the type of place where you arrive early, leave late, drink well and eat well: the perfect recipe for a great time with your friends.
